'Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' trilogy follow-up gets a cover, boring English title

The English title and cover for the follow-up to Stieg Larsson’s Millennium crime trilogy was unveiled by publisher Knopf Doubleday on Tuesday. Sadly, it looks like the English title of the new book is just as boring as the previous titles.

The new book continues the story of Lisbeth Salander, the main character of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest, nd was written by Swedish author David Lagercrantz. In January, publisher Norstedts said that the title of the new book is That Which Does Not Kill.

However, Knopf said today that the new book’s U.S. title will fall in line with the U.S. titles of Larsson’s books. The Girl in the Spider’s Web is the title American readers are stuck with.

(For reference, the Swedish title for Larsson first book translates to Men Who Hate Women.)

Sonny Mehta, Editor-in-Chief of Alfred A. Knopf, assured readers that Lagercrantz fully understood the world and characters that Larsson had created in his world-famous Millennium trilogy.

“David Lagercrantz’s familiarity and understanding of Stieg’s work as a journalist, coupled with his appreciation Stieg’s work as a novelist, made him the perfect candidate to continue working on the Millennium series, and it is evident on every page of this extraordinary thriller,” Mehta said in a statement.

Knopf also posted a trailer for the book.
