HBO, J.K. Rowling's 'The Casual Vacancy' trailer shows the ugliness of Pagford (Video)

HBO released the first U.S. trailer for The Casual Vacancy, J.K. Rowling’s first adult novel. It proves that the English town of Pagford is very, very far from Hogwarts.

The new trailer introduces us the to the story, which - in case you didn’t read the book - centers on the town of Pagford. The town falls into chaos after a spot opens up on the parish council when Barry Fairbrother mysteriously dies. That one incident sets off a chain reaction, opening old wounds and highlighting feuds within the town.

Casual Vacancy is actually a BBC co-production, as the three-episode series debuted in the U.K. back in February. Around that time, HBO finally scheduled its U.S. debut. The episodes will air on Wednesday, April 29 and Thursday, April 30.

Michael Gambon, Keeley Hawes, Rory Kinnear, Monica Dolan, Julia McKenzie and newcommer Abigail Lawrie are among the ensemble cast.

In addition to this new series, Rowling is also working with the BBC on a series based on her Cormoran Strike books, which are written under the Robert Galbraith pseudonym.
