Jennifer Lawrence to exit the 'X-Men' franchise [VIDEO]

Jennifer Lawrence has announced that she will be leaving the popular X-Men franchise and that her last role in the film will be seen in X-Men: Apocalypse. Lawrence played the younger version of Mystique in the popular comic book film adaptations.

Variety reported that during an interview with MTV that featured both Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, she made the announcement. Lawrence had joined the franchise back in 2011.

“It is my last one,” said Lawrence.

X-Men: Apocalypse will be directed by Bryan Singer and features many cast regulars including; James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult and Rose Byrne. Joining the cast for this sequel will be Oscar Isaac and Kodi Smit-McPhee. Apocalypse is the film that follows X-Men: Days of Future Past, which showed the transition over into the new X-Men class that was featured in X-Men: First Class.

Apocalypse will be released in theaters in 2016, ABC News added.
