The station is explaining that Madonna was never banned from the station, she just needs to release a decent song, according to BBC1 station controller, Ben Cooper, Contact Music added. Cooper explained that he has been a huge Madonna fan and even has a poster of her up on his wall but it comes down to the merit she has an artist.

"There's nothing personal about Madonna. It's just about the merit of the music an artist is creating at the time. We haven't banned Madonna. If she comes back with another track," explained Cooper.

BBC1 has been trying to cultivate a younger audience and the station claims that to that target demographic, her music is no longer relevant. Madonna's music might not be relevant with younger music fans but she is claims that the radio station is ageist against her.

The "Like a Prayer" singer has been making headlines recently not only for her music but for her comments about her home state. When asked by US Weekly about what the singer missed about Michigan, she responded with "I miss absolutely nothing about growing up in Michigan, nothing."
