Masi Oka to reprise 'Heroes' role on 'Heroes Reborn'

Masi Oka, who currently appears on CBS’ Hawaii Five-0, will be among the returning Heroes cast members for NBC’s Heroes Reborn event series.

The peacock network made the news official today, also confirming that the new episodes will air as part of the fall 2015 line-up. Oka will have a “guest-starring arc” on the new series, NBC said.

Oka said that he is “excited” to return to the role of Hiro Nakamura, who “was such an inspirational role to play, and I’m hoping the fans will enjoy seeing him back on TV.”

“We are thrilled to have Masi back in the Heroes family,” creator Tim Kring added in a statement. “The character of Hiro Nakamura was such a huge part of the first series’ success, and a gigantic fan favorite. We felt the fans would really love seeing him back in action again.”

Oka currently plays the Coroner on Hawaii Five-0 and has also appeared in parts on Scrubs, Without A Trace, Reba and Will & Grace. On the movie side, he has appeared in Friends with Benefits, Austin Powers in Goldmember and Get Smart.

The actor was nominated for a Golden Globe and Emmy for playing Hiro in 2007.

Oka is only the second original Heroes star to join Heroes Reborn, as JAck Coleman also agreed to reprise his role. Members of the new cast include Ryan Guzman, Zachary Levi, Gatlin Green, Robbie Kay and Kiki Sukezane.
