'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Recap: Season 5 Finale

Last night was the finale of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ 5th season.

We kick off right where we left last week, with both Kim and Kyle Richards at Kyle’s Palm Desert estate. Remember the “you stole my house!” situation? Still happening. Kim tells Kyle that she has grown up and that as her sister she should treat her like the “healthy, sober” sibling who has the ability to monitor her own life. Need we flash back to Poker night? When Kim willingly took a pain pill from her ex-husband Monty that caused her to be all kinds of crazy? Seems very “grown up”, Kim.

Despite Kim’s recent infatuation with Brandi, she does inform Kyle that she won’t be inviting her to their niece, Nicky Hilton’s book signing. Her reasoning? It’s a “family event.”

We’re at the book signing and Kyle is talking about her nieces like they are still relevant in pop culture. Sorry, Kyle. This isn’t 10 years ago. There really aren’t many fans in attendance for the signing. In fact, did you even know Nicky had a book coming out? I sure didnt. Kim comes into the signing wearing a vest that Kyle sells at her Beverly Hills store, Kyle by Alene Too. However, Kim didn’t buy the vest there. Rude. Obviously a blatant attempt to piss her sister off.

We get to see Kim and Kyle’s sister, Kathy. Super, super rich Kathy Hilton, who has obviously spent a good amount of her fortune on cosmetic procedures. The poor woman’s face barely moves. Her daughter, Paris, walks in only to be judged by RHOBH cast member, Yolanda Foster. There are no words said, but Foster’s eyes say it all. We also get to see Camille Grammer who was on the early seasons of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Gotta love Camille. Really wish they would bring her back on full time.

Lisa Rinna is at home with her family, talking about how she’s going to cut Kim out of her life. I love Lisa Rinna but she has spent entirely too much time talking about Kim Richards. Lisa is obviously the better person in this situation and just needs to sit back, observe, and let the situation play out. It’s understandable to want to help, but sometimes it’s better to not even get involved. Look at what happened when she tried to help, Kim Richards went crazy on her. “Eat some bread!”

“Who the f–k is Kim Richards in this world to say anything about my life,” Rinna chanted. “And Who the f–k is Brandi to know anything about anyone’s life, either! You preach, Lisa Rinna.

This episode’s big event (there’s always a big event at the finale) is former housewife, Adrienne Maloof’s party. Yay Maloof-Hoof! Lisa Vanderpump claims that the only time Adrienne hosts a party is when she has some product to promote. The party wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t great. Adrienne even did magic tricks, but it was pretty yawn-worthy. Maybe next season, Adrienne?

We switch to Brandi who is getting ready for the party with her gay housemate. One of the larger questions of this season is why doesn’t he have his own place? Brandi is obviously nervous about seeing Kyle as it’s all she can talk about while she gets ready for the party.

Now we’re over to Lisa Vanderpump and her husband, Ken. They are preparing for the party as well, talking about their beloved Giggy. While it’s kind of old, you can’t help but love these scenes. Giggy is the cutest!

Now we’re with Kim Richards, who’s questioning her stylist whether or not she should confront Brandi about her conversation with Lisa Rinna. It’s funny because she originally accused Kyle of lying about the situation. I really do love Brandi. But can you be surprised, Kim? Come on.

Now it’s party time, officially, and Brandi is rather intoxicated. It’s no secret she uses alcohol to mask her pain and this time the pain is over her father who is sick and in ICU. She is worried about him which is really sad. That has to be difficult. Brandi is desperately seeking an apology from Vanderpump, who she thinks should have reached out to her about her father. Lisa apologizes to Brandi for the situation her father is in, but is noticeably not being drug back into a friendship with Brandi simply because she feels sympathy over her father’s illness. Lisa says she won’t be giving Brandi another chance, saying Brandi doesn’t know what she had until it was gone and of course Vanderpump thinks she’s something big to lose. Which she may be, who knows.

Kyle’s goal at the party is to have her sister realize the negative intentions of Brandi and her backstabbing ways. Her way of doing this? Lisa Rinna. She insists that Lisa tells Kim everything about the conversation she had with Brandi regarding an “intervention” for Kim. Even though Kyle’s plan is to expose Brandi, her sister has a different agenda, which is to confirm that Lisa Rinna has been spreading lies about Kim’s sobriety. Kim says that ruined her “reputation” and even her family by questioning her sobriety. Sorry, Kim, but no. You ruined your reputation by showing up to film a national television show while obliterated. The poker night was hard to watch. How many weeks ago did that episode air and it’s still being talked about? Exactly. Because it was that bad, Kim, that bad.

Kyle says Lisa really needs to take the chance to ruin Brandi’s attempts at being a friend to Kim by telling her of the conversation. She tells Kyle that Kim is “gonna believe what she wants to believe.” That’s the truth. Kim is rather hard-headed.

However, both Eileen and Vanderpump encourage Rinna to confront the situation and to clear things up. This is the Real Housewives after all. You confront everything, you call people out. That’s how the game is played, Lisa Rinna. But I’m sure you know that considering how perfect of an addition you’ve been to this season. So Lisa decides to go talk to Kim. Kim is very resistant towards being confronted by Lisa. “I don’t want to talk to you.”

Lisa Rinna is having a rough night and orders a strong drink. Good idea, girl.

Brandi is at the party, still crying. Lisa Rinna tells her that Kim Richards is the negative in the situation, that the conversation held between the two of them came from a place of love and concern.

Finally, Lisa Rinna and Kim Richards are having their talk. Kyle and Eileen were hanging out before Kyle couldn’t resist and began giving her opinion again on the situation between her sister and Brandi. Brandi doesn’t really back up her comments. Shocker.

The whole conversation ended up being rather confusing and left Lisa Rinna feeling confused, wondering how she got blamed for the mess. Eileen encourages her, “You proved your point, but you also got played. The odds were stacked against you.”

Perhaps production left a little to the imagination because next week is the insane season finale, promising an insane amount of drama. The women taped it weeks ago and are still talking about how rough of a day filming was, they said they filmed for 10 hours. Should be juicy and interesting.

Are you tuning in? And who has been your favorite housewife in Beverly Hills this season?
