Student in 'Fifty Shades of Grey' rape case cleared of charges

A student at the University of Illinois at Chicago, who was accused of sexually assaulting a fellow student while trying to re-enact scenes from the movie Fifty Shades of Grey was cleared of the rape charges Thursday.

The 19-year-old student who accused Mohammed Hossain, 19, of raping her testified for more than 90 minutes Thursday.

The teen, who agreed to have her hands tied with a rubber band, says her and Hossain have had consensual sex in the past and that they have a “friends with benefits” relationship, NBC5 Chicago reports.

She added that she went to see the movie before the alleged incident occurred and that the sex was consensual at first, but she told him to stop once he hit her too hard with a belt.

"I was saying, 'No, stop,' shaking my head from side to side," she said. "He said, 'I want to see how much you can take,'" she testified. "He said, 'I want to see you cry.' "

After hearing the accuser’s testimony, Judge Peggy Chiampas ultimately ruled that there wasn’t enough probable cause to take the case to trial.

After Hossain was released from jail, he continued to deny sexually assaulting anyone, but he did say that from this incident he has learned to be careful about who he trusts, the Chicago Tribune notes. He is now focusing on finishing his education.

"All that really matters is becoming a doctor," Hossain said. "I have one goal in mind, and that's what I'll set my heart to."

Prosecutors have not decided if they will seek an indictment against Hossain.
