'Super Troopers 2' successfully raises $2 million goal in one day

It's official: Super Troopers 2 will come to a theater near you. After launching their Indiegogo page for the sequel a day ago, the Broken Lizard successfully acquired their $2 million goal.

Collider, who also announced the Indiegogo page yesterday, revealed the update on the project.

As reported yesterday, the comedy team had studio distribution to the sequel to their 2001 comedy from 20th Century Fox if they could raise the money for the project in 32 days. They accomplished their initial goal 31 days ahead of time.

Even though this goal has been met, the page is still open for fans to donate. As they revealed yesterday, the more money they get, the more they'll get to do with the film. They needed at least $2 million to prove to the studio they had fans eager to see the film and that they could have Super Troopers 2 at all.

For fans who donate, there are plenty of awesome prizes. While the most interesting is "The Fandango Bango," which secures a ticket to Super Troopers 2 should they donate $35 or more, other great prizes include the following: the Troopers attending your wedding should someone give $25,000, the chance to name a character or town if you give $4,000, a private screening in your hometown for you and 24 of your friends for $3,750 and a private stand-up show for $20,000. Of course, these are just to name a few. Check out the rest at the page.

Super Troopers 2 films this summer. As of this writing, its budget currently is $2.05 million.
