Aaron Hernandez judge bans TV cameraman for juror harassment

While jurors continue their deliberations in the murder trial of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, the judge in the case banned a TV cameraman from the courthouse.

ESPN noted that Judge Susan Garsh banned local WHDH-TV cameraman Robert Cusanelli from the courtroom after he admitted to following jurors to their cars. Jury member informed the judge that they were followed by someone in the station’s news van on Wednesday.

As previously reported, deliberations began on Tuesday and Wednesday was the first full day the jury had to go over the case.

Garsh said someone from Channel 7 had to testify and Cusanelli did, thus admitting to breaking the “no contact” rule. However, he said that he never spoke to any of jurors.

Prior to his testimony, the news station released a statement via Twitter denying that it had violated any rules which pertained to the members of the jury.

The judge did not ban the station from its coverage, but said that Cusanelli was not allowed back in the courthouse.

Hernandez, 25, is awaiting the verdict of his murder trial for the 2013 killing of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd.
