Human remains found during search for missing Virginia teen

Authorities have said that human remains were found during the search for missing Virginia college student Anjelica “AJ” Hadsell, however, it is not yet certain if those remains belong to the 18-year-old.

According to the Virginian-Pilot, the body was found in a grassy area next to abandoned house near the Virginia-North Carolina border on Thursday morning. The location of the body is roughly about 50 miles from the home of Hadsell’s parents in Norfolk where she was last seen.

The Longwood University student went missing early last month and WAVY reported that her father was arrested on March 21 for breaking into the house of someone he thought kidnapped her.

Wesley Hadsell was charged with obstructing justice, one charge of possessing ammunition after a felony and one charge of breaking and entering.

He has not denied his past-criminal record or the charges against him.

“I’d do anything for my daughter, my wife, my kids, and they make it sound like I’d do anything to keep myself out of trouble,” the 36-year-old said.

Hadsell appeared in court on Tuesday for a misdemeanor charge of killing or maiming an animal. A preliminary hearing for the other charges is set for April 29.
