J.K. Rowling finishes third Cormoran Strike crime novel, will be out this fall

There’s a reason why J.K. Rowling hasn’t been able to write a new Harry Potter novel. She’s too busy with her other projects. She’s already finished her third Cormoran Strike crime novel, which will be published this fall.

Little, Brown U.K. tweeted an announcement, confirming that it will be titled Career of Evil. Like the last two books in the series, it will be published under Rowling’s Robert Galbraith pseudonym. The previous books in the series are The Cuckoo’s Calling and The Silkworm.

Rowling also announced on the Galbraith Twitter account that the third book is done. The author was having a little fun with Twitter, writing to the Galbraith account, “Only the third time for you, of course, Robert.” Galbraith then ‘replied,’ “Yes, but then, I'm younger than you.”

Even though Harry Potter is over, Rowling has been more prolific than ever, also publishing The Casual Vacancy. She’s also writing the scripts for Warner Bros.’ Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. The Galbraith novels are also set to become a BBC One series.

The author did tease a possible return to telling Harry Potter stories, but said an eighth book isn’t coming anytime soon.
