Marcus Mariota works out for San Diego Chargers

Marcus Mariota can add the San Diego Chargers to the list of teams interested in possibly drafting him in this month’s NFL Draft.

The Heisman Trophy winner and University of Oregon standout worked out for the Chargers Tuesday in Eugene, Ore. after having dinner with team executives Monday night, reports NFL.com.
The Chargers have the No. 17 pick in the draft and it seems unlikely that Mariota will still be available at that juncture. One possible trade partner for San Diego is the Tennessee Titans, who own the second pick.
A trade between the two franchises would likely include current Charger quarterback Philip Rivers.
Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt served as the offensive coordinator for the Chargers. He was in San Diego in 2013, when Rivers posted 4,478 yards, a 69.5 completion percentage, 32 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and a 105.5 passer rating, according to NESN.com.
Rivers, an Alabama native, has stated that he would like to complete the tenure of his contract in San Diego, which runs through this upcoming season.
The NFL Draft is slated to begin April 30 in Chicago. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the first pick and are expected to take Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston.
