'NCIS' recap- 'Patience'

NCIS opened up with three prostitutes talking about Pluto the planet when a man drives up and one woman gets in the car. She begs him to help keep her safe and tells him that the people she is trying to escape from can do anything. But before they can leave, bullets begin ravishing the car, leaving them both dead.

At the scene, Ellie is taking photos while Tim talks to the witnesses. He tells Gibbs they only saw a man in a black SUV. When Gibbs mentions DiNozzo, Tim thinks he isn’t there since he’s on vacation, but Tony hasn’t left yet and comes to help him. Ducky and Palmer arrive talking about prostitution and Palmer makes a bad attempt at a joke while Ellie talks about the victims.

The female is Lolita and the male is Petty Office 2nd Class Daniel Harvey. Ducky notices that most of the gunshots were centered on Lolita and he notices Tim behind Gibbs, who wants to tell him that he and Ellie can handle the case without Tony. Ellie finds out that there is no record of Daniel Harvey in the Navy.

In the bullpen, the team discusses Harvey, whose prints they were unable to find, but the car he was in was registered to the Department of Defense motor pool. They talk about checking sign out logs and Tim eagerly wants to do it. Ellie tells them the victim is Lolita Cortes, who was born in Colombia and had emigrated to the U.S. She recently took a trip back there for a couple days. Tony is eager to leave and as he is about to step out, Tim tells them the car was registered to an operation known as Lex Talionis.

Tony stops in his tracks and he leaves the room with Gibbs to go to MTAC. Tim knows what the Latin phrase means, which is like an eye for an eye, but he has never heard of the op, so he and Ellie go to follow them. Even Vance goes into MTAC, but when Tim tries, he is locked out.

Vance, Tony, and Tim talk to Vice Admiral Dawn Tyson, who claims to have no knowledge of why the vehicle was in use. They tell her their victim wasn’t Navy and was likely using a cover so she agrees to look into things and tells Gibbs to inform the rest of his team about the op.

In one of the offices, Tim and Ellie find out that NCIS got a lead on a 40-year-old airport bombing that left over 100 people dead. A suitcase with a bomb inside was found in Colombia and the prints matched the ones from the 40-year-old attack. Gibbs was brought in to the case because he had experience in Colombia and he only brought Tony and Ziva in. Tim is not happy and Vance reminds him to keep his ego in check. The suspect is Tomas Orlando, a Colombian drug kingpin whom they have not been able to get a DNA sample from.

Downstairs in the garage, Abby sarcastically gives Gibbs a hard time for someone else running DNA on a case for him, but he points out that the samples were sent to the southeast lab, making her feel properly chastised so she tells him she found prints in the car belonging to Eddie “Collarbone” Rosario, who was busted for pimping before and is likely Lolita’s pimp that she had a falling out with. Abby gets an IM from Ellie that Gibbs is needed by the Admiral, so he rushes back to MTAC.

The admiral and Ambassador Edmunds tell Gibbs the male victim is Lieutenant Louis Freston, who was working with Lolita since she had relatives who knew the place where Orlando got his haircuit and she seemed to have clippings she was going to give him. Freston’s notes had stated that the hairs were inside her purse and Tim comes to show Gibbs a cell phone video of Eddie Rosario stealing the purse. The Admiral and Edmunds tell Gibbs they have 12 hours to get the hair sample so they can finally get Orlando for the bombing.

Tim is heading down the stairs to put a BOLO out on Orlando when Palmer passes asking where Gibbs is. He sarcastically gives his location and says he is “with his favorite agent” as he steals Palmer’s food. Palmer tries to go to MTAC, but everyone walking by ignores him. Tony comes out and Palmer tells him that Ducky has news so Tony goes to get Gibbs, but not before stealing his coffee.

They put Ducky on the video monitor and Ellie is there to share that Lolita had a tattoo that was slightly scratched off. She was able to track down the ink to a tattoo parlor that was used. Before this, though, Palmer comes in not realizing the video monitor is on and talking about how Gibbs only ever gives him an angry glare. He realizes they are there when Tony speaks up. Gibbs tells Tony to take Tim to the tattoo parlor.

When they arrive, Tim is still upset about not being informed on the case, especially since he shared classified data with Tony (47 times according to the latter). Tony thinks he is just upset since Gibbs shared it with him, which Tim mutters was probably “misguided.” While they wait for the tattoo artist, they both begin talking and Tony asks if Tim is on an undercover op, but he doesn’t say anything. In a matter of minutes they make up just as Edward Rosario walks out. Tony and Tim immediately arrest him.

Back at NCIS, Tim takes Edward to interrogation while Tony runs the sample down to Abby’s lab. In MTAC, Gibbs and Vance talk to Commander Hankos, who is ready with the SEAL team to take down Orlando. Ellie lets them know about the sample and Hankos appears ready to stop Orlando. Ellie finds out from Vance that he lost a father in the attack 40 years previously and he had asked to be on the mission to stop Orlando.

Gibbs interrogates Edward, who claims to know nothing about the DNA. He tells Gibbs Lolita had quit a week earlier and he found out she was working his turf, so he went to find her. Edward tells Gibbs he only took her purse to get her earnings for that night. Abby interrupts the interrogation to tell Gibbs that Orlando’s DNA was a match. Gibbs goes to MTAC where the rest of the team is to see the SEAL team move in where they believe Orlando is. However, the building is empty.

In MTAC, the team talks to Ambassador Edmunds, who is getting calls about an op on Colombian soil while Hankos tells Gibbs they found a laptop that was partially destroyed, but they might be able to get intel off it. Tim offers to do it with Abby, but they can’t get the laptop to DC in time, so Gibbs mentions going by aircraft carrier.

Abby goes up to talk to Gibbs and Tim, telling them that she got a hit for a familial match to Orlando. He has a niece and before she can say anything more, Gibbs tells her to pack her bags so Tim leads her away while Gibbs goes to Tony and Ellie. He discovers the niece is a Dr. Susanna Soto. Her mother’s family raised her when her parents were killed and while her uncle is her father’s brother, they don’t know if they have been in contact. In order to go in to find out anything from her computer, Tony and Ellie go undercover as expecting parents.

However, when they go in, they find out it is actually a couples intimacy class, which should be fun considering Ellie still has to excuse herself to mirror Soto’s harddrive. They sit down as Soto and the others snap their fingers and are told to look into each other’s eyes. Vance mutters with a smirk that Tony is going to “file for hazard pay.”

When Abby and Tim arrive, they meet up with Petty Officer Goode, who says he was able to get the information on Orlando’s meeting. He recognizes Abby as having dated a roommate’s brother’s best friend 11 years earlier, which Tim is surprised by since that’s when he dated her. Abby feels awkward but Tim tells her it’s ancient history. Abby gets to work while Tim goes to do his own work.

Ducky sees Tony and Ellie, who are still reeling from their undercover work. Tony is feeling some intimacy issues while Ellie goes to talk to Gibbs. He is talking to the Admiral and Hankos. Tim still needs another hour on the laptop and Ellie says that Soto has a lot of information to go through. They are worried they will never find Orlando, but then Tony comes to tell them that Orlando is in the squad room. Tony, Ellie, and Gibbs go to meet Tomas, who tells them he wants asylum from the US.

Tony, Ellie, and Gibbs talk in the observation area across from interrogation. The State Department wanted to know how Orlando got through customs and Gibbs and Tony go to interrogate Orlando. He claims that someone else is trying to frame him for the airport bombing and he came to them to give him his own DNA personally. Orlando tells them he didn’t know why they wanted his DNA until the girl’s family came to him for protection. He tells them the meeting they were crashing was to announce his retirement.

Down in Abby’s lab, since she isn’t there, Ducky and Palmer work on the DNA, but are arguing over who has more experience working DNA. Jimmy begins to get ahead of himself so Tony tells him to tone it down. After Ducky threatens to make him clean up intestines, Jimmy gives him Abby’s manual on the lab before Tony says “Let it go, Elsa.”

In MTAC, Vance and Gibbs talk to Ambassador Edmunds and Hankos. The DNA did not match Orlando and someone was trying to frame him. Abby comes on video to tell them that a bug was used on Orlando’s laptop to spy on him and it came from Ambassador Edmunds, who immediately ends her part of the call.

They manage to get her to interrogation, where she tells Gibbs the real culprit had known she took money at one point and used her so she wouldn’t reveal he was the real culprit of the airport bombing. She finally agrees to give Gibbs the name. Then, we see on the video monitor in the bullpen that the U.S. attacked the home of a Columbian named Armand Luna. Vance comes to tell them that they got Luna as Tim and Abby come back.

Tim is wondering how long she had been with the barista and he is wondering if he can trust her. She assures him he can as Commander Hankos comes to thank Vance and Gibbs for their work. The president calls about a press conference and Vance leaves so they can tell the other families they were not forgotten. The team meets up with Ducky and Palmer as Gibbs looks on with a proud smile.
