Suge Knight pleads not guilty in hit-and-run murder case

Former rap music mogul Marion “Suge” Knight has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and other charges for the hit-and-run incident in January that resulted in the death of one man and serious injuries to another.

During today’s hearing, Knight’s attorney also asked that Los Angeles county Judge Ronald Coen lower Knight’s $10 million bail, reports CNN. However, the judge declined to do so. It was already lowered from $25 million.

Coen ruled on April 16 that there is enough evidence for the case to go to trial. During the incident in late January, Knight allegedly ran over Terry Carter and Cle “Bone” Sloan at a burger joint shortly after an argument on the Straight Outta Compton film set. Carter was killed and Sloan survived with serious injuries.

Sloan testified during a preliminary hearing on April 13, but was not cooperative, even refusing to positively identify Knight in the courtroom. He said that he is “no snitch” and will “not be used to send Suge Knight to prison.”

Knight has also been taken to the hospital several times during the pre-trial process. He was taken into the courtroom in a wheelchair earlier this month for a hearing for an unrelated robbery case earlier this month.
