At least 12 injured after tornadoes sweep through southern Plains (Video)

At least a dozen people were injured after several tornadoes hit the southern plains on Wednesday evening.

The Associated Press noted that at least 12 injuries have been reported as well as widespread damage from the twisters that touched down in Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska. Of the injured, two people are in critical condition, but no deaths have been reported.

The storms that swept through Oklahoma destroyed homes, caused major flooding and led to the evacuation of the Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management spokesperson Keli Cain told NBC News that Gov. Mary Fallin is planning to tour the hardest hit areas in the state and survey the damage on Thursday.

Homes were also destroyed in Nebraska near the Kansas border where officials said as many as nine tornadoes may have touched down.

Ten of thousands of people have been left without power.
