Jay Z and Beyonce met with Freddie Gray’s family, who are unfortunately suffering amidst the chaos surrounding the city of Baltimore after one of their own was shot and killed by police.
They met at the Rally 4 Peace event, which was live streamed by Jay Z’s streaming service Tidal. Beyonce’s fan account @Beylite posted the photos to Instagram on Sunday.
The event featured a performance by Prince, who performed his song “Baltimore" he wrote just for the protests demanding answers for Gray's death.
The account also shared a photo of Beyonce with her mom, Tina Knowles, and fellow singer Alicia Keys with Mike Brown’s mother, Lesley McFadden.
“I am honored to join Prince in his mission to inspire through the uniting power of music and be able to offer a platform where this moment can be shared globally,” Jay Z said in a statement about Tidal’s involvement in the Rally 4 Peace event, Rolling Stone reports.
“We invite all to experience the music and contribute in their own way to promote peace, tolerance and understanding. Our prayers go out to Freddie Gray’s family and every family affected by brutality and senseless violence.”
The Baltimore Sun reports Tidal also offered to match the amount of money donated to the Baltimore Justice Fund via their website.
