Death toll rises in Texas, Oklahoma floods, more rain expected

The death toll from the flooding after a historic storm in Texas and Oklahoma has risen to 17 and that number could grow in the coming days as more rain is expected.

CNN reported that at least 17 people have been found dead and 13 more are still unaccounted for after the holiday weekend storm that battered the South. In addition to those killed in Texas and Oklahoma, at least 13 people were killed by a tornado in Ciudad Acuna, Mexico which spawned from the same storm system.

Before the cleanup from the massive flooding in the region could really get underway, more rain and severe weather was forecast for some of the already flood-ravaged areas.

The National Weather Service announced that more rain is expected Wednesday in and around Houston and some of those storms could be severe.

The NWS previously declared a flash-flood emergency for the city and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott placed dozens of counties across the Lone Star State under an emergency disaster declaration.
