Houston Texans picked for HBO's 'Hard Knocks' (Report)

J.J. Watt could be up for an Emmy nomination. The Houston Texans star defensive end and his teammates will reportedly be the focus of HBO’s Hard Knocks NFL documentary series.

ESPN reported this morning that the Texans will be announcing the news soon. It will be the franchise’s first appearance on the show, which launched in 2001.

The Atlanta Falcons were featured on the show last season, although the Texans played a supporting part as the Falcons’ joint practice training camp hosts. Hopefully for the Texans, their season will go better after Hard Knocks. The Falcons only won six games last season.

Hard Knocks has also featured the Ravens, Chiefs, Jets, Cowboys and Bengals in the past. The Houston Chronicle reported earlier this month that the Bills, Redskins and Browns were also being considered for the 2015 Hard Knocks season, but they each declined it.

The only way to get out of Hard Nocks is by having a new coach, making the playoffs within the last two seasons or if the franchise was already featured on the series.

The Texans do have a few interesting storylines that HBO can use, including trying to get back to the playoffs after a 9-7 2014 season and making sure quarterback Ryan Mallett is ready after Ryan Fitzpatrick was traded to the Jets.
