Louis CK bringing his talents to the big screen with 'I'm A Cop'

Comedian Louis C.K., who already does multiple jobs on his critically acclaimed FX series Louie, is about to take over the big screen. He’s finally getting an opportunity to write and direct a movie again.

The project is called I’m A Cop and has the backing of Oscar-winning producer Scott Rudin, along with Louie executive producer Blair Breard and Dave Becky. C.K. will also star in the film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported on the project, C.K. will play a volunteer police officer whose mother is a highly decorated officer. When she dies, he is suddenly thrust into a full-time police officer position.

C.K. hasn’t directed a theatrical effort since Pooty Tang, a 2001 Chris Rock movie that Paramount took away from him during post-production. A lot has changed in the 14 years since though, as he’s directed every episode of Louie. The show is now in its fifth season.

As an actor, C.K. has been seen on the big screen in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine and David O. Russell’s American Hustle.

In addition, C.K. is developing Baskets for FX with Zach Galifianakis. That series will debut next year.
