Mom who allegedly pushed baby off bridge charged with murder

The Pennsylvania woman, who allegedly pushed her baby off of a bridge before jumping in the water herself, has been charged with murder.

The Associated Press noted that authorities announced on Monday that Johnesha Monae Perry, 19, has been charged with homicide.

As previously reported the Allentown woman kissed her 1-year-old son while he was in his stroller before she allegedly rolled him off the bridge. She too then leaped off into the Lehigh River.

Authorities found the baby about 700 hundreds away from the bridge, pulled him from the water and performed CPR. He was hospitalized, but died on Saturday after being taken off life support.

Perry was later found on the riverbank and also transported to a hospital. Investigators believed she was attempting a murder-suicide. She allegedly told them that it was "her time to go."

An autopsy done on the child concluded that he died of blunt force trauma and drowning.

Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin said that the baby’s organs have been donated.
