NBC cancels 'Constantine,' 'About A Boy,' 'One Big Happy' and Katherine Heigl's 'State of Affairs'

Katherine Heigl’s return to television was short-lived. The long-off-the-air State of Affairs has officially been cancelled, along with four other NBC shows.

State of Affairs was marked Heigl’s return to TV after she left Grey’s Anatomy and tried out a movie career, which didn’t go so well. Despite coming from The Blacklist executive producer Joe Carnahan and even getting a post-The Voice slot, the show never gained an audience. It didn’t help that it seemed a bit like a Scandal knock-off.

Constantine has been off the air even longer, finishing up its initial 13-episode run in the fall. In November, NBC opted not to pick up the back nine episodes. However, it wasn’t until Friday that it was officially cancelled.

The show was based on Hellblazer, a comic series published by DC Comics’ Vertigo. Matt Ryan starred as the title character.

Zap2It notes that three comedies got the ax. One Big Happy, which counted Ellen DeGeneres as an executive producer, and Marry Me with Casey Wilson will not get second seasons. About A Boy, which was based on the movie of the same name and starred David Walton and Minnie Driver, won’t get a third season.
