One Direction, Blake Shelton, Jennifer Garner and more join NBC's Red Nose Day

While Red Nose Day is a popular fundraising effort in the U.K. to help raise money for children in poverty through entertainment, it isn’t that well known in the U.S. That’s about to change this week though, when NBC joins the effort with its own broadcast on Thursday.

Celebrities from around the world have agreed to join the show, which starts on 8 p.m. Thursday. The latest round of celebrities to join today include One Direction, Zac Efron, Jennifer Garner, Richard Gere and Keith Urban.

Urban and John Mellencamp will since “Pink Houses,” while Coldplay will unveil is new Game of Thrones: The Musical sketch. Stars from the hit HBO series will even be involved.

The Voice coach Blake Shelton, Jack Black and Michelle Rodriguez took trips to Uganda, Peru and other parts of the U.S. to meet children in need. Their trips will be highlighted during the special.

Other celebrities set to appear in the special include Liam Neeson, Helen Mirren, Robert Pattinson, Rose Byrne, Nick Cannon, Matt LeBlanc, Hugh Bonneville, Dame Diana Rigg, Kyle MacLachlan, Elisabeth Moss, Saturday Night Live comedians Jay Pharoah, Colin Jost and Michael Che, Gilbert Gottfried, Hoda Kotb, Cheryl Burke, Nicole Scherzinger, Jeff Dye and SketchShe.

Funny Or Die also produced sketches that will air during the special

Red Nose Day in the U.K. took place on March 13 and included a new version of “Lay Me Down” by Sam Smith with John Legend.
