Twenty One Pilots earn first Billboard 200 No. 1, Taylor Swift leaps to No. 2

Duo Twenty One Pilots hit the top of the Billboard 200 album chart this week with their fourth album. Taylor Swift’s 1989 also experienced a big boost from the Billboard Music Awards, skyrocketing up to No. 2.

Twenty One Pilots’ Blurryface is their first No. 1 album and follows their breakthrough success with Vessel, which only peaked at No. 58 on the chart. Blurryface moved 147,000 units in its first week, nearly half of Vessel’s total since January 2013.

The new album also benefited from actual album sales, which made up 134,000 units of the total. The rest of the number comes from streaming and track downloads.

1989 jumped from the No. 9 spot to No. 2 with 91,000 units. The album has been in the Top 10 since it was released in August. It was helped out by the publicity surrounding the “Bad Blood” video and her wins at the Billboard Music Awards.

Dance star Zedd’s True Colors debuted at No. 4 with 50,0000 units. The Pitch Perfect 2 soundtrack, which was No. 1 last week, fell to No. 3.

After winning The Voice, Sawyer Fredericks’ collection of performances debuted at No. 6 with 41,000 units.

The last debut of the week is Jamie Foxx’s Hollywood: A Story of a Dozen, which came in at No. 10 with 36,000 units.
