2 dead, 2 injured after café shooting in Canada

Authorities said that two people were killed and two more were injured after a shooting at a café in Vaughan, Ontario, on Wednesday morning.

CBC News reported that police responded to the scene just after 8:00 a.m. where two victims were pronounced dead. Two other people were said to be seriously injured and transported to a nearby hospital.

The Globe and Mail noted that the gunman fled and police have not released many details on the suspect or the events that led up to the shooting.

“It’s way too early in the investigation to be tying anything to it,” said Constable Andy Pattenden of the York Regional Police.

The shooting occurred during the morning rush and some people in the area said they heard about 10 shots fired.

Law enforcement officials are urging any other members of the public who may have saw something to come forward with that information.

The café, Moka, is located in a strip mall and was previously known as the Doppio Espresso Bar.
