Alternative band Filligar releases new album 'Keepsakes of the Interior'

Alternative rock band Filligar recently released their newest album, Keepsakes of the Interior on May 19. As the title suggests, Keepsakes of the Interior is a meditative album for all the band members, including Casey Gibson, Johnny Mathias, Pete Mathia and Teddy Mathias.

The interior that they refer to is a metaphor for the inside lives as a band as well as through their own personal growth. Song titles such as “Motor Shine,” “The Mood Ring” and “White Light Rose” all give fans a sense of synesthetic feeling through the colors that the each of these names evoke. “ Motor Shine,” for instance, may remind listeners of a grey metallic noise, “Mood Ring,” a deep blue feeling of sadness and “White Light Rose” a pinkish, whitish glimmer of a garden full of flowers and sunshine.

Titles such as “Truth and Anger” and “Never Better” also reveal the psychological aspects that the band promises to convey through the title. Filligar contains hints of trance, calm vibes that move the songs slowly and thoughtfully, while their sound almost sounds like the band The Killers at certain moments in their songs. A sense of nostalgia also is prominent in a lot of their music. Their song title “ Photos of Madrid,” for example, demonstrate this as well as the very poetic and ethereal lyrics in “Truth and Anger”: beautiful emotion labyrinth/ casual, gradual providence, is it crystal clear/ is it love you feel?”

More information on their album is posted on their Facebook page Facebook as well as on their official website Filligar.com.
