Another tourist attacked by Bison in Yellowstone

Another tourist has been attacked by a bison in Yellowstone National Park just three weeks after a Taiwanese exchange student was gored when she turned her back on the large animal.

According to the Associated Press, the latest person to be attacked at the park was a 62-year-old Australian man, who was tossed into the air by the bison several times on Tuesday. He was then airlifted to a local hospital.

Witnesses said that the man, whose name has not been released, and others, were gathered near the animal while it was laying in grass.

"The bison was already getting agitated," said Yellowstone spokeswoman Amy Bartlett.

The man leaned closer to take a picture and was only about 3 to 5 feet away from the animal when it attacked him.

Yellowstone officials warn visitors to always stay at least 25 yards away from the wildlife as they can be unpredictable.

In the case of the student who was gored last month, she was also said to be too close to the bison and had no chance to escape when it charged her.

Both encounters occurred in the Old Faithful section of the park.
