Chiwetel Ejiofor's character for Marvel's 'Doctor Strange' revealed (Report)

It turns out that Chiwetel Ejiofor is still in talks with Marvel Studios to join Doctor Strange opposite Benedict Cumberbatch, who is playing the title character. Now, we finally know what character Ejiofor is being considered for.

Back in January, Ejiofor’s name was first linked to the project, which would reunite him with his 12 Years A Slave co-star in a very different kind of project. It wasn’t until today’s Deadline report that we had any idea what role he will take.

According to Deadline, Marvel wants the Oscar-nominated actor to play Baron Mordo, who was a villain in the comics, but could be something different in the movie. The film character is going to be a combination of Strange characters.

This isn’t the first big change for the movie. As reported last month, Tilda Swinton is being courted to play The Ancient One, who trained both Strange and Mordo in the dark arts. However, the character in the comics is a man.

As for Strange himself, he is a neurosurgeon who is involved in a horrific car accident. That leads him to learn about the real power behind his hands and he goes on a journey through a mystical universe.

Strange will be directed by Scott Derrickson and written by Jon Spaihts. It will hit theaters on Nov. 4, 2016.
