Ernie Reyes Jr. of 'TMNT II' suffering from kidney failure, raising money for treatment

The family of actor-turned-MMA fighter Ernie Reyes Jr. announced Thursday that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II star is suffering from kidney failure. They have already set up a page for fans to help them pay his medical bills.

Reyes’ sister told TMZ that they are hoping for a kidney transplant after his started failing earlier this year. His eyesight is also failing and he has frequently been to a Texas hospital. He is undergoing dialysis treatments three times a week.

In addition to getting his story out through TMZ, his sister also set up a GoFundMe page. Since then, over 660 fans have donated over $33,000 of the $75,000 goal.

Reyes, 43, was an action star in the early ‘90s, appearing in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze and Surf Ninjas. During the ‘80s, he starred on Sidekicks on TV. His more recent credits include Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Rush Hour 2 and The Rundown. He also appeared in two episodes of NCIS: Los Angeles.
