Magic trade guard Luke Ridnour to Grizzlies

The Orlando Magic traded guard Luke Ridnour to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.

In return the Grizzlies will give the Magic the rights to 2013 second-round draft pick Janis Timma. Timma, who is 22, is from Latvia and plays in Europe as a forward. Ridnour has a $2.75 million contract for the 2015-16 season, however it’s not guaranteed if he is waived before July 10, according to Yahoo Sports.

Ridnour was the 14th overall pick in the 2003 draft. The Grizzlies become the sixth team that he’s been on in the NBA. He averaged four points and two assists in 47 games for the Magic last season, according to ESPN. He has averaged 9.3points, 4.5 assists, and 2.3 rebounds in his 11 year NBA career.

Ridnour could be used as a trading chip with the NBA draft and free agency coming up. The Grizzlies have the 25th overall pick in the draft. The Magic have the fifth and 51st pick in the draft.
