Maria Bamford to star in Netflix series from Mitch Hurwitz

Stand-up comedian Maria Bamford is getting her own Netflix series, with the help of Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz.

The new show, titled Lazy Dynamite, will be loosely based on Bamford’s life. While dipping into the surreal, the show is about a woman who “loses - and then finds - her s**t,” as Netflix puts it.

The first season of the single-camera series will run 13 episodes, 30 minutes each. Hurwitz, Bamford and Pam Brady are the executive producers of the Netflix production.

Bamford is a prolific voice actress, in addition to her stand-up work. Her most recent special was appropriately titled The Special Special Special!, which is now streaming on Netflix. What was so special about it? Her audience was only her mom and dad.

Hurwitz signed a multi-year deal with Netflix in April 2014 and might be working on more Arrested Development next year. Arrested Development star Will Arnett and Hurwitz are also working on Flaked for the streaming service.

Netflix didn’t say when to expect Lazy Dynamite, but hopefully it comes up sooner than later.
