Marion Cotillard joins Brad Pitt in Robert Zemeckis World War II romantic drama

Marion Cotillard is reportedly in talks to star opposite Brad Pitt in an untitled World War II drama set up at Paramount and New Regency. The film, written by Steven Knight, will be directed by Robert Zemeckis.

The project is still untitled, although Pitt has been linked to it since April 2014. In February, Zemeckis agreed to make it his follow up to The Walk.

The news about Cotillard’s involvement was first slipped into a report by Deadline on the huge Netflix news. The streaming service announced today that Pitt will star in David Michod’s War Machine, which will be released in 2016.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is about two assassins who fall in love while in Casablanca to kill a German ambassador. However, Pitt’s character learns that Cotillard’s is working for Germany and has to kill her.

Cotillard was just nominated for an Oscar for Two Days, One Night and could be up for another one thanks to her performance in Macbeth. Knight and Pitt are working together on the upcoming World War Z 2, which will be directed by J.A. Boyana.
