Nuns try to prevent Katy Perry from purchasing their convent

Katy Perry is in the midst of a legal battle with a group of nuns from the Immaculate Heart of Mary convent. Perry wants to purchase the land on the convent, but the sisters refuse to sell it to her.

According to the LA Times, Perry attempted to buy the property for $14.5 million dollars, but the nuns claims that they already sold it to a restaurateur for more money.

Confused, Perry explained that she had purchased the convent from LA Archbishop Jose Gomez, yet the nuns claimed that he had no right to sell it.

In complete contrast, the Archbishop says that it is the sisters who have no right to the land. He claims to have documents that were signed from three of the five nuns allowing him the ability to choose who gets the convent.

People reports that Perry was working on getting this piece of property for three years.

When the nuns found out the name of the bidder, they did a Google search on Perry and immediately judged her.

“Well, I found Katy Perry, and I found her videos and…if it’s all right to say, I wasn’t happy with any of it,” commented Sister Rita Callanan.

The nuns think it is unfair that the land they purchased is being taken away from them and given to someone that they do not approve of.

“I thought, is that a way to make money?” commented Sister Rita when she saw a video of Perry’s performance. “Maybe I could fly around. I could be the flying nun.”

The verdict will be decided in court on whether the nuns or the Archbishop have the right to choose who gets the property.
