Suge Knight faces wrongful death lawsuit from widow, Dr. Dre and Ice Cube named defendants

The widow of the man killed in a hit-and-run that involved former music mogul Suge Knight has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against him. She also named Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Universal Studios, which is producing the Straight Outta Compton film, as defendants.

On Jan. 29, Knight got into a fight with Terry Carter and Cle “Bone” Sloan in Compton, California after doing work on the Straight Outta Compton set. Knight allegedly ran them over with his truck, killing Carter and leaving Sloan seriously injured. Knight is facing murder charges and pleaded not guilty.

Lillian Carter, Carter’s widow, filed a wrongful death lawsuit Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, reports Reuters. She claims that Knight “carelessly, recklessly, violently, and negligently” drove his vehicle towards the two men in the Tam’s Burgers parking lot.

Lillian Carter named the studio, Dre and Ice Cube as defendants because she claims they didn’t do enough to keep Knight from the set, despite his long criminal record.

An attorney for Dre called it “preposterous,” but Ice Cube and Universal haven’t commented on the suit.

Due to his criminal record and previous convictions, Knight faces 25 years to life in the hit-and-run case if he is convicted.
