Thanks to Kevin Strahle's efforts, Crystal Pepsi might come back

A Crystal Pepsi superfan, Kevin Strahle, used his YouTube fanbase to champion the soda company to bring back the flavor of Pepsi introduced in 1992 and discontinued a year later, and it seems it has worked.

He has led the Bring Back Crystal Pepsi campaign since 2013, when his YouTube video drinking a 20-year-old Crystal Pepsi bottle that he bought on eBay went viral.

Strahle, who’s also a competitive eater, proved that his efforts have worked on June 8 by posting a letter he received from Pepsi.

The letter recognizes him for his relentless efforts in getting Crystal Pepsi back, reading, “We definitely hear you and your followers and we think you’ll all be happy with what’s in store.”

Some of Strahle’s efforts include starting a Change.org petition, which has over 34,000 supporters, putting up 15 billboards around L.A., countless calls to Pepsi’s customer service line and headquarters and countless social media posts with the #BringBackCrystalPepsi hashtag.

“We all have a passion, and we just want to see Crystal Pepsi come back and share the joy, that’s all,” Strahle told ABC News. “We’re not threatening Pepsi, we’re just working with them for the greater goal.”

On Monday, Strahle will drive to Pepsi’s headquarters in Purchase, New York with a mobile billboard.

“I’ve made that clear in multiple emails and multiple phone calls with customer service, so I’d assume they know I’m coming,” he said.
