Twitter outraged that Caitlyn Jenner is getting Arthur Ashe award over Noah Galloway, Lauren Hill and Jim Kelly

Since the announcement that Caitlyn Jenner will be presented with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYs next month, social media has responded.

Of course Jenner has millions of supporters, but there have been some who voiced their opinion that other people should’ve been chosen for this particular award over Jenner.

Lauren Hill’s name has been brought up on Twitter as someone ESPYs viewers would’ve rather seen get the award. Though she passed away in April, she inspired millions about the rare form of brain cancer she had called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Gliom. She attended Mount St. Joseph’s in Cincinnati and dreamed to play basketball.

Other names that have been thrown around have been Noah Galloway, who lost part of his leg and arm while serving our country in Iraq, only to become a runner, Washington Post reports.

Jim Kelly, who has beat cancer twice, has been another name brought up.

“In the past few months, the overwhelming outpouring of support from all over the world for my journey has been incredible,” Jenner said in a statement to ESPN. “However, being honored with this award, which is named after one of my heroes, is truly special. For the first time this July, I will be able to stand as my true self in front of my peers.”
