‘Big Brother 17’ Recap: “Who is the fifth person evicted from the house?”

Julie welcomes us to the fifth live eviction of the season. Who is going home tonight…Becky or Jason?

We visit the house right after the POV Ceremony. The Sixth Sense alliance is alive and the Dark Moon alliance is dead. Meg is completely devastated and blindsided. An emotional Jason is starting to figure out things. He notices that Shelli and Clay have been behind every eviction. Meg goes to confront current HOH Vanessa. The emotions begin to kick in for Meg. She feels completely betrayed.

‘The Other Guys’ alliance which consists of Jackie, Meg, Jason and James are starting to figure out what is going on. Meg realizes that Clay lied right to her and in the HOH room, Jackie figures out that Shelli has been lying when she calls her out. The Sixth Sense alliance is going but they need to keep the power or they are in big trouble. Vanessa tries to remind Clay/Shelli that they are grouped in this decision with her. Shelli worries for her and Clay’s game. I’m glad she speaks for him.

Jason now goes on the campaign trail with this new found knowledge. ‘TOG’ alliance discuss the other three pairs that they could recruit for votes. Steve/Johnny Mac, Austin/Liz and Clay/Shelli are the numbers they need. Jason targets in on Clay and Shelli. He thinks he can make them paranoid and have them vote to keep him by saying that Becky is coming after them. It is a great move by Jason. It is curious to see if Jason’s pitch worked on them.

We then profile Johnny Mac. He is currently my favorite HG in the house. We meet with some of his co-workers and they think he is playing the game a certain way. We also meet his parents and his brother who think the way he is playing the game is great. He is making friends with everybody and is not a real target yet.

It is time for the live vote and eviction which will decide who leaves the house next. Becky and Jason make their final pitches to keep themselves safe. The first four HG vote and we have a 2-2 tie. The rest of the votes all favor Jason and Jason is the fifth person evicted from the Big Brother house by a 7-2 vote. He goes out as a great sport as the house watches his picture fade to gray.

Jason talks with Julie and feels that Clay/Shelli betrayed him the most and that they are running the game. Jason hopes that ‘TOG’ alliance can survive and fight against the rest of the house aka The Sixth Sense alliance.

Julie is joined by Julia as Julie teases her about wondering if she is going to join the game or not. The rest of the HG gather in the living room as Julia officially enters the game. Julie informs them that they both had to survive five evictions and they switched 14 times. We also find out that The Battle of the Block is over for the summer. We are going traditional style for the rest of the season.

We get ready for an endurance competition to determine the first solo HOH of the season. The entire house is playing on the comp called “On the edge.” They have to stand on a cliff’s edge and hang on and the last one standing is the new HOH. I enjoy the endurance comps. This is a critical comp. because The Sixth Sense needs to win to keep the power.

Who will win this critical HOH competition? Find out this Sunday night at 8 p.m.

Random thoughts on tonight’s episode:

There was so much crying tonight. Eviction nights are always emotional.

It is official. Johnny Mac is my favorite HG in the house. #DrMac

Quote of the episode: “I was right about everything!”—Jason

I always forget that Steve still plays this game. He is such a strange dude.

I’m happy that the Battle of the Block is over. I was never a huge fan of that twist.
