Aaron Tveit joins the cast of Fox's 'Grease: Live' to play Danny

FOX’s Grease: Live has found its Danny Zuko.

In a press release sent out Thursday, it was announced that Aaron Tveit will play the lead role in the live broadcast of the iconic musical.

Tveit is no stranger to musicals, or live performances. He has experience working on Broadway in the stage version of Catch Me If You Can, had a role in the 2012 film adaptation of Les Misérables and starred in USA’s Graceland, according to Entertainment Weekly.

“I’m thrilled and honored to be joining this incredibly talented team of actors in reimagining this classic and beloved musical,” Tveit said in a statement. “Playing ‘Danny Zuko’ is a dream role and I can’t wait to be a part of all the fun that comes along with performing live on television.”

Opposite Tveit as Sandy, will be Rock of Ages and Footloose star, Julianne Hough. Vanessa Hudgens will join the two as Rizzo, just after her Broadway debut in Gigi.

Also joining the cast is Keke Palmer, as Marty and Carlos PenaVega as Kenickie.

The live musical will be directed by Thomas Kail and Wicked’s Marc Platt will executive produce.

Grease: Live will air Sunday Jan. 31, 2016 on FOX.
