Bryan Cranston’s ‘Sneaky Pete’ gets saved by Amazon

Sneaky Pete, a pilot produced and co-created by Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston, has officially been saved by Amazon. The project, which stars Giovanni Ribisi, was originally a CBS pilot.

Back in June, it was first rumored that the Sony Pictures TV production would land at Amazon Prime Instant Video. Today, Amazon confirmed that it will at least post the pilot online for Prime users to watch and vote on. The pilot will be available on Aug. 7 in the U.S., U.K. and Germany.

Created with House’s David Shore, Sneaky Pete centers on a man who takes the identity of his former prison cell mate only to discover that his new life is worse off. He gets stuck working for his new family’s bail bonds business. The supporting cast includes Margo Martindale, Libe Barer, Peter Gentry, Marin Ireland and Shane McRae.

Amazon also announced that a pilot called Casanova will be available on Aug. 7. This one stars Diego Luna as an 18th century playboy in Paris. The pilot was directed by Amelie’s Jean-Pierre Jeunet, who shot on location in three European countries.

Amazon has been aggressive when it comes to courting big stars for its pilots. Billy Bob Thornton just agreed to star in David E. Kelley’s Trial, which received Amazon’s first straight-to-season order.
