Bryan Cranston says that 'Godzilla' death scene was a mistake

Spoiler alert! If you saw Godzilla last summer and were disappointed that Bryan Cranston was killed off in the first act, he feels the same way.

In an interview with Blastr at Comic-Con, Bryan Cranston says that killing off his character in Godzilla was a "narrative mistake" and that he expressed this concern to the film's screenwriters.

"I told them, I said, 'You're going to make a mistake by killing this character too soon,'" Cranston said. "And it's not me. Anybody else who played this character...it's too much...”

After Joe Brody's death, the movie followed his son, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, but a lot of fans felt that this character was far less interesting than Cranston's. On the other hand, his death was definitely a shocking twist, even though it left a lot of Bryan Cranston fans feeling disappointed.

Though Cranston won't be in it, Godzilla 2 will be headed to theaters in 2018 from Gareth Edwards. The sequel will feature three of Godzilla's most famous villains: Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah, as we previously reported. It's not yet clear who from the original cast will be returning for the sequel.
