Prince pulls all his music from streaming services, save for Tidal

Doves might be crying a little harder this morning, since Prince has pulled all of his music from streaming services. The only place where you can still stream his music is Jay Z’s Tidal service.

A Spotify spokesperson told Mashable Wednesday that Prince’s publisher asked them to pull all of his songs and albums. “We have cooperated with the request, and hope to bring his music back as soon as possible,” the spokesperson said.

Prince’s reps haven’t commented on the move, but it came on the same day that the guitarist dropped a new song on Soundcloud called “HARDROCKLOVER.” He also released “Baltimore,” a protest song inspired by Freddie Gray’s death, on Soundcloud last month.

The “Purple Rain” singer’s music is still available to buy on iTunes, but you can’t stream it through Apple Music.

All of his music is available on Tidal, which has struggled to gain popularity. Perhaps being the exclusive home of Prince’s music will help out.
