'The Bachelorette': The Men Tell All recap

Last week we saw Kaitlyn select her final two, Shawn and Nick. Though this season has been riddled with drama, it has also been entirely predictable: Shawn was the frontrunner from day one, and Nick was also at the top of the leader board soon after he arrived. We also cannot ignore “snapchat gate”, the photo that leaked of Kaitlyn and Shawn in bed together. Talk about a spoiler. Only one more episode and we'll finally be off this rollercoaster (Collective sigh of relief). After what has undoubtedly been the most dramatic season of The Bachelorette yet, tonight we finally get to see "The Men Tell All".

We welcome back all the men, and to catch us up, we get to see a flashback of all the craziness that went down this season. A lot is happening tonight, so to make things a little easier, I’m going to break it down man by man.

Ian
Ian gets called out by Tanner, and I gotta say, kudos Tanner, that may have just been the classiest read I have ever seen. He calls Ian out for being arrogant, rude, and for being an all-around asshole, excuse my French. The ever arrogant Ian finally shows some remorse, getting down on bended knee, and offering an apology to all the men.

Corey
In a surprising turn of events, Corey actually agrees with what Ian had initially said about Kaitlyn; that she is shallow and only there for superficial reasons. Though he disagrees with Ian’s approach, he agrees with the content. Corey gets a resounding chorus of boos from the audience. Oh Corey, no one really even remembered you before. Now this is all they have to remember you by.

Clint
Clint starts off by saying that he is indeed a straight man. No surprise there. After Corey, Chris, and Jonathan accuse him of being arrogant, he doesn't really have an apology to offer. Instead, he defends himself saying that he and JJ had very natural friendship, but he simply just didn’t find the other guys interesting. Clint, what happened to that lovely guy we met during the first few episodes, where is he?

JJ
JJ is the perfect example of someone with verbal diarrhea. In an attempt to defend his and Clint’s friendship, he begins to ramble on about the depth of their complicated relationship. JJ is visibly tongue tied, with the crowd shaking their heads in disbelief until Kupah mercifully cuts him off.

When JJ gets in the hot seat, he finally gets a chance to address the night that Clint left, remember that? The tears and the slap. A humiliated and flustered JJ tries to explain that he and Clint’s relationship was purely a strong friendship. He also explains that his attempts at humor and friendship were misconstrued as arrogance.

Kupah
Wow Kupah! You are not happy that Nick showed up. Though Kupah is furious that Nick was a late addition, many of the other men are quite content with Nick being on the show because they claim that they would rather Kaitlyn be 100% sure of her feelings before making a final decision. To be fair, the rest of the men are only saying this in hindsight, during that time, none of the men were happy with Kaitlyn’s decision.

Ben Z
Ben Z is the second man in the hot seat. Ben Z opens up about being blindsided by Kaitlyn when he didn’t receive the rose. Ben Z also mentions that he become closed off after the “Irish Wake” date because of his history with his mother. Ben Z recieves a chorus of screams from the ladies in the audience. Clearly, he will have no problem landing another girl.

Jared
Jared is the third guy to take the hot seat. As you may or may not know, Jared was and is my favorite guy. Jared confesses that he was in love with Kaitlyn, and that he is still struggling to get over her. To the relief of all the women, as well as Chris Harrison, Jared has shaved off this spotty beard. Ben H is almost certainly the Bachelor, but I would have loved to see Jared take that on.

Ben H
During Ben’s time in the hot seat, he revisits the time in San Antonio where Kaitlyn snuck down to talk to him and Shawn. He explains that Kaitlyn had jumped into the bed with Shawn and the three of them had hung out all night, about six hours with no cameras. Kaitlyn had broken the rules, hiding under a blanket when an attendant walked into the room. He further explained that when he returned from taking a shower, he could sense that something had changed because he suddenly felt like an outsider. It was later revealed that this was the time that Kaitlyn told Shawn that he was the one.

Kaitlyn! Kaitlyn! Kaitlyn!
After a night talking to only the men, Kaitlyn finally makes her appearance. She addresses all the hate and slut-shaming that she has been receiving online, with people going as far as to send her death threats. Chris Harrison reads some of the appalling tweets that Kaitlyn has received. The crowd along with all the men give Kaitlyn a standing ovation which brings her to tears. To all you internet trolls, stop the hate! Try to keep in mind that these are human beings you're talking about.

Kaitlyn and the men have some questions for each other.
-Jared is curious whether talking to Kaitlyn at the cocktail party would have changed anything. She confesses that she doesn't believe that it would have. They just needed much more time.

-Ben H. asks Kaitlyn why he didn't tell her about sleeping with Nick, yet she felt such a strong need to come clean to Shawn. Kaitlyn struggles finding the words to explain herself, boiling it down to the fact that Shawn was insecure, and needed honesty and trust. Judging from the way Kaitlyn was stammering through that answer, there really is no good explanation for that question.

-Many of the men question why Kaitlyn let Nick stay on the show. They express that it felt like a slap in the face to them as they had committed to her. Kaitlyn tries her best to explain that she had put Nick out of her mind before starting this process. She hopes they understand that she really did care what they thought. Sidebar, Kaitlyn’s clapback game is strong, calling Jonathan out because he has voted for Britt. I see you girl.

-Kaitlyn tries to joke with Clint about he and JJ’s relationship, but you can tell that Clint is not here for it.

The men that were present, but did not say much (Not enough to have their own subtitle):
Tony, Cory, Joshua, Jonathan, Justin, Joe, Chris “cupcake”

MVP of the night: Tanner!
My MPV of the night has to go to Tanner. Though he was a wallflower all season long, only popping up with a great joke here and there, he really shined tonight. He addressed Kaitlyn about some of the poor decisions she had made, approaching her firmly yet respectfully. He was also able to express his distaste for some of the controversial behavior expressed by some of the men in the house, I’m looking at you Ian.

All in all, a great night. Next week, Kaitlyn finally chooses her man.

See you then!

PS
The Bachelor in Paradise, August 2nd. You guys going to stick around for that? Not quite sure if I am yet. I’ve had enough reality show drama to last me a couple of months. But you never know, a dose of raunchy reality TV is sometimes exactly what you need after a dreary Monday.
