Aretha Franklin cancels shows due to exhaustion

Aretha Franklin has canceled her show this Friday in Las Vegas due to exhaustion.

The Associated Press reported that the Queen of Soul was set to perform at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, but had to cancel and will reschedule the performance. Franklin said that she need to pull the plug on her Friday night concert after driving from Detroit to do shows in California.

"I thank all of my fans, friends and supporters who bought tickets and hope to see you all soon,” the 73-year-old singer said in statement Tuesday.

Contactmusic.com noted that last year, Franklin made headlines when she threatened legal action against author David Ritz for making claims in his book about her sex life.

Singer Etta James seemed as though she was outing the diva when she said, ''I can understand Aretha not wanting to talk about that . . . Who wants to admit that you're praising the Lord at the 8 p.m. service and servicing some drop-dead gorgeous hunk of a singer an hour later? Aretha and I started out before we were teenagers . . . we wanted to experience it all. I wouldn't use the expression sexually active, I'd say sexually overactive.''

Franklin has won a total of 18 Grammy Awards and is one of the best-selling recording artists of all time.
