Emile Hirsch sentenced to 15 days in jail for Sundance Film Festival attack on female studio executive

Emile Hirsch has been sentenced for the January attacking of a female studio executive at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, which took place at Tao Nightclub in Park City.

Hirsch’s attorney has said he blacked out the night of the attack, during which he put Paramount’s Daniele Bernfeld in a chokehold. He entered rehab days later.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hirsch has been sentenced to 15 days in jail, 50 hours of community service and ordered to pay a fine of $4,750.

Bernfeld has voiced dissatisfaction with the plea deal, saying, "It took two people to pull him off me, and if not for their intervention, the attack would have continued. I thought I was going to die."

Witnesses say Hirsch dragged Bernfeld across the floor and body slammed her during the violent attack.

Through her attorney, Don Etra, Bernfeld also said, “If a violent attack in front of a roomful of witnesses can be labeled a misdemeanor and dismissed, what of women who are assaulted while alone in hallways or bathrooms, or behind the closed doors of their own homes?"
