USA Network delays ‘Mr. Robot’ season finale after Virginia shootings

USA Network announced this afternoon that it is delaying the season finale of its new drama, Mr. Robot, which was set to air tonight. The network said that the episode’s plot was too similar to the shooting in Virginia this morning.

USA Network said on Twitter that the episode “contains a graphic scene similar in nature to today’s tragic events in Virginia.”

The statement continued, “Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight’s episode. Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time.”

USA Network did not say when they plan on airing the episode.

Early this morning, WDBJ7 journalists Alison Parker and Adam Ward were shot and killed on live television while reporting in Moneta, Virginia. The suspected gunman, Vester Lee Flanagan, shot himself and later died at a hospital. Flanagan also mailed a manifesto to ABC News.

Mr. Robot is a freshman drama that stars Rami Malek as a computer programmer who makes connections through hacking. Christian Slater also stars.
