‘Big Brother 17’ Recap: Surprise Eviction leads to the Final Four

Julie Chen welcomes us to tonight’s episode where the houseguests have no idea that somebody will be evicted tonight. Who will win the Power of Veto? Who will be going home tonight? I hope Johnny Mac can pick up the POV win!

We go back to Day 87 right after the Nomination Ceremony. Vanessa claims her target is Johnny Mac this week. I still don’t get why she is keeping the showmance in the game. They won’t take her to the final two. Johnny Mac knows that he is out “of the loop” and offers making a deal with Austin/Liz to throw the POV to them. Austin/Liz immediately report to Vanessa their conversation. This the best case for them. I hope something changes. Johnny Mac is the person I don’t want to leave this week.

It is time for this crucial POV Competition. They watch a trailer of the new CBS show Life in Pieces that premieres this Monday. It is obviously a Life in Pieces themed veto competition. The object is to solve the puzzle in 20 seconds and ring in your buzzer. Once 20 seconds is up, the puzzle board demagnetizes and they have to start over. I am team Johnny Mac!! Steve is looking girl early in this competition. Vanessa is the first one out. Awesome. The trick is going across the balance beam and not hitting the ground. Steve’s puzzle crumbles. Austin is struggling at this. Liz is doing well, Johnny Mac is still tempted to throw it. I wouldn’t do that.

It is coming down to the last few seconds. Boom!!! Johnny Mac wins the veto! He made it to the final four!! This means either Austin or Liz is going on the block. We are moments away from finding out who will go on the block. Vanessa goes to the HOH room and has a breakdown. Johnny Mac claims to still want to work with Austin/Liz. Steve is thrilled that Vanessa’s plan failed. The POV Meeting is here. Johnny Mac is obviously going to remove himself from the block. Who will go up in his place? Vanessa does the “fair” move by nominating Austin next to Steve. It will be a very interesting vote. If it comes down to a 1-1 tie, it will be up to Vanessa to break the tie.

They discuss the idea of breaking up the showmance. They would be stupid not to break them up. Johnny Mac has quite the decision to make this vote. I really have no idea what he is going to do. It is time for the next person to be evicted. Will Judas join the jury or will Steve get one step closer to reuniting with his mother?

Steve and Austin both make their final pleas to the voting houseguests. Liz is up first and obviously going to vote out Steve. It is now time for Johnny Mac’s vote. “Time for some blood” as he votes to evict Austin. The choice is now up to Vanessa. She votes to evict Austin!!! The showmance is over!! Wow. What a blindside. The most shocking eviction of the season. He walks out without shoes on.

Austin is stunned. They are crying inside the house, at least Vanessa and Liz are. Austin is convinced that Vanessa won’t win because the jury won’t vote for her. That was good. It is time to crown a new HOH. Johnny Mac, Steve and Liz are competing. The winner is guaranteed a spot in the final three as well as the chance to play in the final HOH. They have to view videos of statements from their HG and figure out what the “bleeped” out word is. The most points after seven videos wins HOH.

It is a true/false competition. These all sound hilarious with the bleep. Steve is in the lead halfway through. Johnny Mac and Steve are tied 4-4 heading into the sixth video. One video to go. It is a tiebreaker between Johnny Mac and Steve. Steve wins this HOH, this should be good news for him and Johnny Mac.

We have another live eviction tomorrow night. We will be down to the final three.
