McDonald’s to launch all-day breakfast menu

Have you ever wanted an Egg McMuffin at 11:30 a.m., only to discover that your local McDonald’s has already switched over to lunch? That will soon no longer be a problem because McDonald’s is launching all-day breakfast nationwide in October.

The fast food chain started testing the idea in San Diego in March and it must have worked. The Wall Street Journal reported today that some breakfast items will be available all day at 14,300 locations starting on Oct. 6.

Previously, McDonald’s has said that it would be too difficult to cook Big Macs and Egg McMuffins at the same time. Considering that the company is dealing with slowing sales though, they decided that they finally needed to start listening to consumers. After all, if McDonald’s wants to sell coffee all day, they should make food to go with it. Who wants coffee with a Big Mac?

“This is the consumers’ idea. This is what they want us to do,” McDonald’s USA President Mike Andres told the WSJ. “That’s why I think this could be the catalyst for our turnaround.”

The changes in the kitchen will cost anywhere between $500 and $5,000 depending on what equipment a restaurant has.

This is just the latest change McDonald’s customers will experience. One of the biggest is the reduction in menu items, which has already started. This will spread to the breakfast menu. Plus, a made-to-order process will become common during slower hours.
