Miranda Lambert joins Kenny Chesney's 2016 tour

Kenny Chesney could probably take 2016 off after a fantastic 2015 thanks to his Big Revival tour, but the country music superstar has no plans to. He’s ready to kick-off another tour in 2016 and this time, he’s taking another superstar with him.

Chesney will be joined by Miranda Lambert for his 2016 tour. Sam Hunt, who has become a successful performer himself and also wrote Chesney’s “Come Over” hit, will also be joining them on the tour.

“Miranda is the real deal,” Chesney said in a statement. “She’s a songwriter, first, and a real vocalist. She’s puts it all out there when she’s on stage, and I loved touring with her so much in 2009, I can’t believe it’s taken us this long to get her back out here – because I love every single thing about who she is as an artist and a person.”

While Lambert and Chesney will be touring together next year, they will be competing against each other at the CMA Awards. Both are up for the top prize, Entertainer of the Year. Chesney’s “American Kids” is also up against Hunt’s “Take Your Time” for Single of the Year. Those awards are handed out on Nov. 4.

Old Dominion will be the opener for Chesney again, but they will get an even longer set. The group wrote Chesney’s hit “Save It For A Rainy Day” and have penned hits for Dierks Bentley, Tyler Farr and The Band Perry.
