New 'Leftovers' Season 2 trailer takes Garveys to chosen town of Miracle (Video)

There are just a few weeks to go until the premiere episode of The Leftovers, and HBO has released its second trailer for the upcoming season.

The new trailer provides a bit more information about the plot of the season, which will focus on the town of Miracle, Texas, the only place in the world where not a single person disappeared in the departure. The Garvey family is one of many who come to this supposed chosen town, but is it everything that it seems?

The Garveys, along with reverend Matt Jamison, see Miracle as a chance to start over, but the trailer shows off that things will quickly go south, with Matt in particular put in a fair amount of danger. Who exactly is after him, and why won't the town let him talk about what happened? There are also glimpses at the Guilty Remnant, which according to HBO may no longer be the cult that Meg (Liv Tyler) joined in Season 1.

As we previously reported, The Leftovers Season 2 will follow two families: the Garveys and a new family, the Murphys, consisting of Erika (Regina King), John (Kevin Carroll), Michael (Jovan Adepo), and Evie (Jasmin Savoy Brown). According to HBO, the Murphys were spared from the departure.

HBO also released a new poster for the season, which shows Kevin reaching up to the light and to Nora while trying not to sink to the bottom of the water. The tagline reflects the season's theme of trying to find a new start, and this isn't the first time the show has used water imagery both to suggest a character's potential rebirth and their feelings of sinking away.
