Robert Lewandowski blitzes goal record with 5 goals in 9 minutes

Robert Lewandowski just had one of the greatest performances ever in Bundesliga history.

Lewandowski, Bayern Munich's 27-year-old Polish striker, subbed on at halftime and then promptly scored 5 rapid goals in a span of 8 minutes and 59 seconds, the fastest anyone had ever scored five goals in Bundesliga history. He is the first player to score 5 goals in a Bundesliga game since 1991.

Lewandowski also made history by scoring the fastest hat trick in league history, as he netted his first three goals in a span of four minutes.

....with Bayern trailing 1-0.

"I am very satisfied, that was incredible," he told Sky Sports. "I just wanted to shoot, I didn't really think what will happen afterwards. Having been one down, we knew that we must improve and score twice at least. But five goals, that's incredible."

Bayern’s coach, Pep Guardiola, who is used to seeing spectacular feats from his days of coaching Lionel Messi at Barcelona, was speechless after the game.

“I don’t think I’ll ever see something like that again,” Guardiola said, via the NY Times.

As he was subbed on at halftime, Lewandowski also became the first substitute in league history to score 5 goals in a match.

Wolfsburg hadn’t conceded a goal in the previous four games and were on their way to winning at Bayern for the first in 22 tries until Lewandowski’s outburst that effectively ended the game, according to BBC.

Lewandowski tweeted about his magical performance after the game.
