'Scream Queens' Recap: 'Pilot' and 'Hell Week' (Video)

A party from twenty years ago can apparently throw a sorority in shambles, as Kappa House sorority girls leave a fellow member to bleed out after she has her baby in a bathtub.

Fast forward to present time when Dean Cathy Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis) confronts Chanel Oberlin (Emma Roberts) about her behavior and how she's managing Kappa House.

With her sorority sisters, Chanel #2 (Ariana Grande), Chanel #3 (Billie Lourd), and Chanel #5 (Abigail Breslin), queen bee Chanel runs a tight ship of putting class rank above anything.

However, when Dean Munsch opens Kappa House to any potential pledges, including Hester “Neckbrace” Ulrich (Lea Michele), main Chanel proves to be antagonistic.

Meanwhile, Grace Gardner (Skyler Samuels) arrives on campus as a freshmen to follow in her late mother's footsteps in joining the popular Kappa House. Dropped off by her overprotective father (Oliver Hudson), Grace finds a friend in her roommate, Zayday (Keke Palmer).

Zayday has ambitions to be president one day, and by joining Grace as a fellow pledge, it looks good for her future political career, so says Grace. Nevertheless, Zayday might want to second guess that outlook when Hell Week brings the fellow pledge members more than what they bargain for when bodies start dropping like flies.

Thinking that she could scare off the pledges, Chanel, in a derogatory manner, relays to her housekeeper Ms. Bean (Jan Hoag), her plan to drown the housekeeper in a fryer filled with oil, but at room temperature, to stage a scare.

A nervous Ms. Bean looks to Chanel like Dorota looks to Blair Waldorf and agrees with the queen bee. In front of barista, Pete (Diego Boneta), Chanel talks the talk, but can she walk the walk?

When Ms. Bean goes against Chanel, an angry Chanel shows whose boss in front of the new pledges by plunging Ms. Bean in the fryer.

Thinking that the oil was room temperature, the Chanels and the rest of the pledges witness in horror as Ms. Bean keels over after peeling her face off to expose the horrendous flesh.

Because the new pledges witness this, they are forever bonded by this secret, as the main Chanel tells them in the freezer, where Ms. Bean's body remains.

Grace, after befriending Pete at the coffee shop, offers the inside scoop to the cute barista, who coincidentally happens to be the editor of the school paper.

Grace and Pete bond over the mystery behind Kappa House, but when another Hell Week event goes awry with a fellow pledge dead, who's to blame? More importantly, who's going to maintain that lawn after that horrific incident?

When main Chanel tries to find Ms. Bean's body to show her boyfriend, Chad (Glen Powell), the body somehow disappears. Either Ms. Bean is alive, like Chanel thinks, or someone moved the body. Can Chanel trust those amongst her?

In her on-and-off relationship with Chad, Chanel finds that Chad's roommate, Boone (Nick Jonas), is more than a golfer buddy with Chad.

Assuming that Chanel will expose his secret, Boone wants to come out on his own terms by joining the Kappa House, but Chanel #5 denies Boone automatically despite main Chanel's tentative approval of Boone.

When the university's fraternity members find Boone's body mutilated, all eyes are on Chanel and her sorority sisters, but will Chanel come out on top against the devil red cape antagonist?

Questions to Ponder Until Next Week:
- Any guesses on the next victim?
- How do you think Boone will play a part?
- Will the message delivered by one of the victims reach the surface?
- If Ms. Bean helped protect the Kappa House twenty years ago, is she a friend or foe of the sorority?
